Antibacterials for systemic use
It is a second generation cephalosporin antibiotic for parenteral administration. It exerts bactericidal activity by interfering with the synthesis of microorganism cell wall. It has a broad spectrum of activity. It exhibits the resistance to the activity of most beta-lactamases, therefore it exerts the activity against ampicillin- or amoxicillin-resistant strains.
Treatment of the infections caused by cefuroxime-susceptible microorganisms or treatment of the infections before the causative agent of the infectious disease is determined.
Use caution in the newborns and premature infants, patients with the marked renal impairment, in colitis, decreased blood clotting, peptic ulcer, elderly patients, patients with renal failure.
